Today we feature Victoria Collinsworth, a first-generation sophomore who studies Chemical Engineering. Vic is from Mantua, NJ (Gloucester County).

How did your love of video games start?

When I was younger, my brother used to play on his Gameboy a lot, and I would watch. As we grew up, I started loving games more and more, through watching him and playing then myself! Specifically, games like Pokémon Ruby, Kirby Squeak Squad and eventually Minecraft when it came out were the foundation for my love of games.

Can you tell me about your involvement with Esports at Rowan?

I’m the Marketing Executive for the club/team as a whole!

What if your preferred gaming setup? Any favorite games?

I’m mainly a PC gamer, my favorites being League of Legends and Team Fortress 2. My first PC game was Minecraft, though, so it always holds a special place in my heart. On handhelds, though, my favorite series is Pokémon, and I love the older Legend of Zelda games.

Why did you choose your major?

I like chemistry, and I’ve always wanted to be an engineer, so I chose both!

What are your professional goals, short-term and long-term?

Short-term, I hope to get an internship this summer with one of the companies I’m applying for. Long-term, I hope to have a job working to better the world in some way, even if it’s by finding a better way to make one small thing, anything makes a difference.

Tell us about one moment that made you feel like Rowan was the right fit for you.

When I walked around the campus for the first time, and I saw somewhere that I could explore and just exist in and enjoy myself. Seeing the engineering building, specifically, was something that made my choice concrete, in YES, I want to go here.

What advice would you give your high school self about choosing a major, campus involvement, or choosing a college/university?

Don’t worry. “Whatever happens, happens.” (Spike Spiegel, Cowboy Bebop)
