Today we speak to Psychology major Caitlin Morales, who also minors in Human Resources Management. Caitlin is from Chesterfield, NJ (Burlington County) and transferred from Kean University. She shares with us her experience in her major and why she enjoys being a student at Rowan.

How would you tell a fellow student interested in your major that they’re choosing a worthwhile field?

Psychology and Human Resource Management are both wonderful fields of study. There is a vast amount of career paths that Psychology majors can take, and that’s why I feel it’s so popular here at Rowan. The coursework is so intriguing and, as much as you learn about others, you really begin to learn more about yourself as well.

Could you share with us one moment during your time at Rowan that made you feel inspired or confident that you’re in the right field for you?

Any time I’ve felt anxious or stressed, my professors have been so understanding. I’ve quickly come to realize that the Psychology field is full of empathetic people. If I could choose a specific moment when I felt most confident about the field I’m in, it was when I was really stressed about finals last year. I spoke with my professor before class and told her how overwhelmed I was, and she told me to skip her class and take a nap. It may sound silly, but it was what I needed. She didn’t make me feel bad about it either.

What has been one aspect of Rowan that you’ve enjoyed so far?

One thing I love about Rowan is simply how beautiful the campus is, especially during the fall. There are so many benches you can sit on around campus and just admire the leaves falling.

Why continue with your education this year instead of taking a gap year?

As much as things are different this year, I really couldn’t imagine having taken a gap year. I’m still able to live on campus and be at my home away from home, but now I just get to take my classes from the comfort of my apartment.

What are your professional goals? And how is Rowan helping to support you in those goals?

In the future, I would like to become a Chief Human Resources Officer. Working in Human Resources is my passion and Rowan has definitely helped me begin my journey by assisting me with my current internship and providing me with exceptional coursework.
