What wakes you up in the morning?

Being able to create, the thought of making a new piece of art or just training my skills by practicing gesture drawing and challenging myself by learning how to draw new objects and figures.

How would you tell a fellow student interested in your major that they’re choosing a worthwhile field?

I would tell them about the broad palette of techniques they will learn, the friends they will make, and how much fun and fulfilling it will be.

Could you share with us one moment that made you feel inspired or confident that you’re in the right field for you?

Going to Westby Hall for the first time and seeing all of the resources and supplies available to students. Having multiple art spaces where I could practice and hone my craft was a major motivator for me to branch out and learn new techniques.

What has been one aspect of Rowan that you’ve enjoyed so far, OR one happy thing about Rowan that surprised you?

The effort of the university to be inclusive, and make safe spaces for various communities, especially of POC and LGBTQIA+.

How was transferring to Rowan the right choice for you?

It was easy, and I’m glad that I did. Transferring to Rowan gave me the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and find a new home. Rowan has become that for me — the friends that I have made, and what I have learned here will be valuable memories that I will keep close to me.
