Today, we speak with Joshua Masucci, a freshman aspiring geographic information science major who lives on campus in Evergreen Hall. Joshua will share his #PROFspective with us on what it’s like to be a Rowan University student and how he’s getting the most out of his college experience as a Rowan Prof.

Share an “ah ha!” moment you’ve had within your major that made you feel passionate about your intended field.
My “ah ha” moment was when I sat in my first course of the semester. The professor asked us to share our name, hometown, hobbies, and environment. Hearing all the responses from other students made me realize that there are so many other students who share a similar passion to mine.
Share a moment you’ve experienced in which you have felt that Rowan is a welcoming environment for you?
I had trouble finding my way around campus when classes started. Luckily, faculty and students were more than happy to help – it made the transition into college easier and made me feel like the everyone was doing it together.
Why did you choose Rowan?
I chose Rowan on a whim. I applied to several other schools, but the costs were too high. As the deadline for committing to colleges closed in, I decided on Rowan. I felt that Rowan appreciated me more than just another admitted student and the price was right.
What’s your favorite thing about your typical Monday at Rowan?
Laziness is my favorite thing about Mondays. Everyone’s getting to where they have to go and doing what they have to do, but it’s all happening in a slower pace. The Student Center smells like coffee, a lot of kids aren’t back from the weekend yet, so the campus isn’t as crowded and the whole atmosphere feels relaxed.
On your busiest day, what academic, non-academic and social responsibilities are you juggling?
My busiest days are Mondays and Wednesdays. I have to juggle 3 classes and schoolwork in between each course.
